Home & Community Supports
Many individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities desire less structured supports, provided in their family home or other community-based settings. They strive to achieve independence, but may not be ready to live on their own. REM Mississippi works with these individuals and their families to provide hourly supports that assist in becoming or remaining as independent as possible while living in the family home.
Independent Living Supports
Our home and community supports are available to help adults live as independently as possible while remaining in the least restrictive environment that meets their support needs.
Trained staff members provide a variety of assistance and begin by getting to know each person. From there, hourly supports are designed in a way that leverages unique strengths and builds confidence.
Our team may assist with areas that relate to the individuals’ general health and well-being, such as:

We make sure that program participants understand their options. Individuals learn daily living skills and regularly participate in community activities, all of which provide a greater sense of independence and personal identity. We also help individuals learn daily routines that fit their needs and do so at a pace that is comfortable for them.
